Mods, short for "modifications," are typically files used to modify or change the game being modded. In the case of TERA, mods generally make changes to the game's aesthetics and don't usually affect the actual game itself. Unless otherwise noted, this site only describes mods that change the appearance of in-game gear (weapons, armor, and costumes) and in-game effects (e.g. UI elements, skill effects, etc.).
A few mods exist that provide additional information and/or services to the player (e.g. a DPS meter to display a group's damage output). Every now and then, you might see a post here about those.
There are also mods, usually in the form of 3rd-party applications, that can be used to modify the game in such a way that they can present the user with an advantage over other players. These are more commonly known as "hacks." You won't find those here.
How to Install Mods
Most of the mods you will find for TERA are really just custom skins. Installing them is a simple matter of adding them your TERA game folder.
Of course, you don't want to replace your original game files with the modified ones, so you're going to want to put them in a different place.
First, go to where TERA is installed on your computer. This can vary from system to system, so here are a few places to look based on default installation locations:
C:\Program Files\TERA\
C:\Program Files (x86)\TERA\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\TERA\
I chose a custom path to install TERA on my second hard drive, so for me, my path is D:\Games\TERA\.
You will then want to go to your Packages folder:
Client\S1Game\CookedPC\Art_Data\Packages\
Create a new folder and name it "_CH"

In your "_CH" folder, create a folders, and name it "PC".
Most mods will go into the "PC" folder, but a few will go into other folders. This will be noted on the mod's page and/or in the mod's README file.
From here on out, I will refer to the full path to the "_CH" folder as path\to\mods\.
Now you're ready to install your mods!
Let's say your mod file is PC_Event_22.gpk. Just move this file into path\to\mods\PC\, then fire up your game.
Note that if you have two or more mods that use the same GPK file, only one of them can be used at a time unless they're all combined into one GPK. This is a more advanced technique and should be left to the mod author(s) unless you know what you're doing. Whenever possible, contact the mod author(s) to see if the mods can be combined into one GPK file for you.
